It seems as though the divorce settlement between Kaley Cuoco and Karl Cook may finally be coming to an end. In September 2021, Kaley Cuoco filed for divorce from Karl Cook after three years of marriage. It was an amicable split but fans think The Flight Attendant star had an affair with Pete Davidson. The two worked together in the romantic comedy Meet Cute where they became close friends (insiders confirmed it was all platonic).
The Saturday Night Live star is obviously over the speculations these days. He’s now dating Kim Kardashian and shrugging off the “gay” rumors thrown around by her ex-husband Kanye West. On the other hand, Cuoco’s divorce from Cook hasn’t been finalized yet… Here’s what’s really going on there.
Why Did Kaley Cuoco File For Divorce From Karl Cook?
The ex-couple revealed in their joint statement that they’d simply grown apart. “Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions,” they exclusively told People. “We have both shared so much of our journey publicly so while we would prefer to keep this aspect of our personal life private, we wanted to be forthcoming in our truth together.
There is no anger or animosity, quite the contrary.” They also said they wanted to keep the process private. “We have made this decision together through an immense amount of respect and consideration for one another and request that you do the same in understanding that we will not be sharing any additional details or commenting further,” the statement continued. Some think that their “very unconventional marriage” might have influenced their decision. “We have different locations that we’re at a lot,” Cuoco told E! News of their living arrangement in August 2019. “You know, we’re not together every single day and I think, personally, it’s important, it works well for us.”
In an episode of Brad Goreski’s podcast Brad Behavior, the actress admitted that the situation was born out of her refusal to “rush into things.” Cook had no issues with it, though. “Yes, we have separate lives and then our lives come together and he’s so supportive of me,” explained The Big Bang Theory star. “He lets me be me and I let him be him…I’ve obviously never been in a better relationship and I want this to last the rest of my life so in a way, we’re actually taking it slow.”
Karl Cook Also Requested A Divorce After Kaley Cuoco’s Filing
Two weeks after Cuoco filed for divorce, Cook also requested for one, citing “irreconcilable differences.” He had asked the court to terminate its ability to give spousal support to either him or the actress. But he asked to retrieve “miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects,” as well as “earnings and accumulations” that he got before, during, and after their marriage. His camp confirmed that he was sticking with their prenup, saying that there are joint properties that had to be “divided” based on its “terms.”
“There are additional separate property assets and obligations of each party as mandated by the parties’ Premarital Agreement,” said Cook’s response. He refused to share additional details about the prenup, causing some fans to worry about their pets’ custody. However, a source assured US Weekly that Cuoco has an “ironclad prenup in place” to make sure “her assets are protected.” The actress has an estimated net worth of $100 million, same as Cook who was initially labeled a billionaire due to his father Scott Cook’s fortune.
The former couple is also doing well on their own these days. “She has a big career and puts that first in her life. It’s basically a growing apart and each pursuing separate interests,” an insider said of Cuoco, weeks after she filed for divorce. “She has a lot going on in her career now and loves her work. Their relationship is just following different paths. A marriage doesn’t work if you rarely see the other one.” Cook has also been focused on his career. “Karl is a lifelong equestrian with a thorough love of horses. His jumping career has picked up recently, and he did well over the summer,” the source added.
Kaley Cuoco And Karl Cook Are ‘Close To Settling Their Divorce’
According to The Blast’s newly obtained legal documents, Cook is now represented by Kim Kardashian’s divorce lawyer, Laura Wasser. She previously worked on Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s intense child custody battle. With Cook recently filing documents that would update the case, insiders believe the divorce would be finalized soon. The documents reveal that the equestrian had filed a declaration of disclosure which typically suggests a case headed towards settlement.
