SUSSEX Squad fans have reacted with fury after Meghan Markle was dragged into an engagement ring row with Megan Fox. Following news the Hollywood star was engaged to rapper Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) there was speculation her two engagement rings cost more than the Duchess of Sussex’s. The A-listers recently got engaged in Puerto Rico with her beau designing two rings for the Transformers star that cost up to a reported £218,000 each.
This combined £436,000 figure dwarves Meghan’s trilogy ring which features diamonds from Botswana and Prince Harry’s late mother Princess Diana’s personal collection. Its price tag has been estimated to be around £134,500. Linking the two women’s respective rings infuriated many of the 40-year-old’s fiercely protective and vocal fans – who quickly jumped to her defence.
They also questioned why the women were being linked with the connection only being that they were famous and shared the same first name – albeit with a different spelling. Royal expert Omid Scobie wrote: “Weird flex but okay.” Kat said: “It’s not just weird, it’s shameful the way they use her name to get clicks.“They hate her but they love the money that she makes for them.
“No matter the subject they always find a way to bring her into it.” Jayla Jones raged: “Two engagement ring vs one engagement ring .. why wouldn’t it be more expensive?” Lauren joked: “Lol there’s not even a connection.” Commenting on Megan’s ring Jenny Luker, President of Platinum Guild International USA, said: “Megan’s ring appears to be set in platinum so she can rest assured that these stunning gemstones are secure.
“The pear-shaped emerald and diamond appear to be 5-6 carats each, set on a double platinum band with micro pave diamonds. “I would guess the ring costs at least $250k.”Explaining the significance of the design, she continued: “This engagement ring is the Toi et Moi style, which translates to ‘You and Me’ and is the perfect symbol to represent your love, especially since MGK chose to include his and Megan’s birthstones in a timeless platinum setting.
“We’ve recently seen this style also worn by Kylie Jenner, Ariana Grande and many other celebrities.” Mark Broumand, President of Mark Broumand Inc., estimated that it could be worth even more. He said: “The emerald and diamond are approximately 6 carats each and they indeed look to be top quality, putting the ring cost around $300,000.”
Megan and MGK met in 2020 while filming the movie Midnight in the Switchgrass and got engaged on 11 January. Announcing the news, MGK said: “‘Yes, in this life and every life.’ Beneath the same branches we fell in love under, I brought her back to ask her to marry me.
“I know tradition is one ring, but I designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birthstone) and the diamond (my birthstone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love. 1-11-2022.”
