The Prince of Wales has “personally called Harry to tell him Camilla will become Queen”, it has been reported. The rare conversation has been seen as helping to heal the alleged emotional gap between father and son.
The conversation between the Prince of Wales and Prince Harry comes after fears of a rift in the family after the Duke of Sussex quit the Royal Family with Meghan Markle.
Prince Harry is said to have “barely spoken” with his father throughout 2021.It has been claimed that father and son relations have plummeted to “an all-time low”.
One of the main catalysts for the estrangement in the family was Prince Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah, where he stated that his dad had cut him off. The Duke of Sussex also said his family had shown “total neglect” for his mental health.
The Prince of Wales reportedly also spoke to Prince William prior to the Queen’s announcement about the future of the monarchy on Saturday.
A Palace source then claimed “William was fine with it”. On Saturday the Queen announced that it is her “sincere wish” that Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, will be known as Queen Consort.
In a statement to mark her accession, the Queen told the nation: “I remain eternally grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and affection that you continue to give me.
And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me.
“And it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service. ” On Sunday, the Queen marked 70 years since her accession to the throne. She is the first British ruler to celebrate this milestone.
