ROYAL biographer Tom Bower explained why the Queen is unable to stop the feud between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, while adding the Duchess of Sussex “does not” deserve privacy. Prince Charles’ biographer believes the Queen is struggling to stop the feud between Meghan and Kate because she is a “bit too old”. Tom Bower also discussed how the person that would have been capable of preventing their rift was fired by Prince Charles, for being “too good and too clever”.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the royal insider said: “The problem really is, in the system, that there’s never been in the Palace someone who’s really intelligent, who’s respected. Someone who can step forward and say look Meghan, this is the way you might have done it in Hollywood, but here in London we do it this way.
“The Queen’s a bit too old, and the trouble is the one person who could have done it would have been the Queen’s private secretary, a man called Christopher Geidt. “But he was fired by Charles because he was too good and too clever, and interfered at times when it was necessary.”
Susannah Reid interjected: “Alternatively you could say there’s no one in the Royal family who’s been as independent, determined, articulate, strong and confident as Meghan.”
To which Mr Bower responded, while gesturing to author Radhika Sanghani sat beside him: “The problem with this argument that you’re putting forward is she’s living in a goldfish bowl.
“You wrote that she deserved privacy, she doesn’t, she’s on public display. “When you’re on public display 24/7, there’s a certain way of behaving.” Recently, reports emerged suggesting Meghan Markle “made Kate Middleton cry” and has been “emailing staff at 5am” with lists of instructions.
It comes as the Sussexes have announced plans to leave Kensington Palace for a cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle. It had been believed they would join the Cambridges in the Palace by taking over a lavish apartment.
A source also told the Mail on Sunday a “ghastly row” developed between the two couples last Christmas after Kate attempted to explain Royal rules and etiquette to Meghan.
Meanwhile a friend told the paper that Prince William separately offended Prince Harry by raising doubts about Meghan, and in particular the speed with which their relationship was progressing.
They explained: “The problem is that the Cambridges felt things had moved very quickly between Harry and Meghan.
“William in particular was worried and felt close enough to Harry to voice his thoughts.”
