Kate Middleton has seemingly passed on one of her habits to her six-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte as a royal fan TikTok account has pointed out the similarity. Prince Charlotte has picked up an adorable habit from her mum, the Duchess of Cambridge, it has been suggested. The similarities between the mother and daughter’s mannerisms were first noticed by royal fans as Kate carried out a virtual engagement.
During a video call last year, the Duchess could be seen playing with her ponytail as she chatted to teachers from the Ribbon Academy. She pulls her hair forward over her shoulder and curls it around her fingers before pushing it back behind her. A royals fans account over on TikTok, who goes by the name RoyalFanCams, pointed out how Kate’s six-year-old daughter Charlotte has picked up the same habit – especially when she’s feeling nervous.
In the video, Charlotte can be mimicking the gesture on her first day of school. Charlotte arrived at Thomas’s Battersea to meet headteacher Helen Haslem with her proud parents and big brother, Prince George in September 2019. And as she walked across the playground she twiddled her hair around her finger, just like her mum, Kate.
The first day of school is a scary experience for children and an emotional time for parents, even if you’re in the royal family, so it was lucky that Charlotte had her family there to support her. Kate had some words of encouragement to put he daughter’s mind at ease. In a video showing the family arriving for the special day, Kate, who was holding Charlotte’s hand, can be heard saying: “George will have to show you the way.”
Charlotte’s dad Prince William was far less nervous for his first day of school, thanks to his mother Princess Diana’s advice. Diana and Prince Charles, accompanied their eldest son in the car to drop him off at Wetherby Prep School in Notting Hill, London. But before they got out, Diana gave him a quick talking to prepare him for what was to come.
Ken Wharfe, former bodyguard to Princes William and Harry, told Yahoo’s Royal Box : “Diana said to him in the car, ‘When you get to school there are going to be lots of media and lots of photographers, you’ve got to behave yourself. “You’re going to get this for the rest of your life.”
