One of the Queen’s 12 great-grandchildren once stole the show from the Monarch with a “naughty move”. Mia Tindall, the daughter of Princess Anne’s youngest child Zara and ex-Rugby player Mike Tindall, is celebrating her eighth birthday today. Mia is a similar age to Prince George and Princess Charlotte and is sure to be having a fun-filled day with her family.

However, she is said to be one of the cheekiest of the royal children and almost six years ago stole the show from her great-grandmother in the Queen’s 90th birthday portrait.

In the photograph, which was taken by celebrated photographer Annie Leibovitz, the Queen is sitting with some of her youngest grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Mia stands out from the photograph, as she is clutching the Queen’s own black handbag.

Instead of asking the royal child to put the handbag back, the Queen let the two-year-old hang on to it. Mia’s father previously spoke to Good Morning Britain about the incident. He said: “It just happened at the right time. She was being a bit naughty.

“The Queen got it quite right when she told her ‘just hold the handbag now’ and she did that. It ended up being a great photo of her. “It just turned out to be the right photo at the right time and it will be something we’ll always cherish, I think.

“She’s got quite a little personality on her, and we encourage that.At the time of her birth, she was 16th in line to the throne, however, she has now dropped to 22nd. Despite being the Queen’s great-granddaughter, Mia does not hold a royal title, just like her mother.

In 2014, a statement from Buckingham Palace released to mark Mia’s birth read: “Mrs Michael Tindall today safely delivered a baby girl at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. “Mr Tindall was present at the birth. The weight of the baby was 7lbs 12oz.

“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Philip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news. The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course.

“This baby is the first child for Zara and Mike, the third grandchild for The Princess Royal and the fourth great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, and is 16th line to the Throne.”

Zara and Mike have two other children, Lena, aged 3, and Lucas, aged 9 months. The family live on the Gatcombe Park Estate, which is owned by Princess Anne.
