MEGHAN MARKLE and Prince Harry live in Montecito, Santa Barbara where they moved in early 2020 after stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family. After some reports suggested they were planning on moving out of Montecito, a home staging consultant has commented on how the Sussexes should decorate their home in preparation.

After 20 months as working members of the Royal Family, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry moved to California in March 2020 just at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. Some reports began circulating suggesting the Sussexes were keen to move out of the Montecito area. But how should the couple prepare their home in case they are planning to move?

Home staging consultant Lisa from Stylize Studio spoke exclusively to, providing some high-end interior design tips to Harry and Meghan. She said: “Meghan showed her love of flowers on her old Instagram account when showing off her rental home in Toronto. “Interior designers use flowers in a simplistic way now, so use eucalyptus leaves, hydrangeas, olive trees and orchids which are very much in vogue.”

Lisa expanded on what accessories the Duke and Duchess should feature in their home. She said: “The Tom Ford coffee table book is seen in many high-end interior shots and Harry and Meghan should have one too! “Meghan was also a fragrance lover in her Toronto home, and the property she shares with Harry should have the oddly placed candle, votive or fragrance dotted around to include brands such as Diptyque and Baobab.” As Harry and Meghan are reportedly planning to leave their 18,000 square foot mansion, and move elsewhere, a new study has revealed how much they could rent their home for if they chose to go down that route instead of selling.

The nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom pad, which spans a whopping 18,000 square feet on five acres of land, could go on the rental market at over £120,000 a month. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s house is situated in the sought-after enclave of Montecito, Santa Barbara in California, home to the biggest Hollywood A-Listers, dazzlingly wealthy business tycoons and recording artists.

The research, by accommodation experts Luxury Hotel analysed the overall value of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Montecito home to discover how much the couple could charge every month if they decided to rent out, rather than sell, their sumptuous mansion. The study used the real estate rental formula of taking 1.1 percent of a property’s overall value to calculate the average monthly rent.

They estimated that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could make at least £121,000 a month and £1.5million a year in rent on their enviable property. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s sprawling Montecito estate, built in the French Provincial style, features an endless array of luxurious rooms.

Their master suite alone boasts its own outdoor terrace, generous dressing room and an en-suite bathroom, as well as a bedroom with creamy yellow walls, an elegant chaise lounge, and an opulent bed with two matching bedside tables. As well as the nine bedrooms within the property, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s home is believed to have a separate guest house with two more bedrooms, where friends and family can stay.

The mansion itself is crammed with every luxury imaginable, from a gym and spa complete with its own sauna, to a home cinema, arcade, and games room. The property also features an extensive children’s play area, tea house and cottage, perfect for Harry and Meghan’s children to enjoy. The elaborate backyard is very calm, filled with olive and Italian cypress trees and features a tennis court and a large swimming pool.

A spokesperson for Luxury Hotel commented on the findings exclusively for “Montecito was already a stratospherically wealthy and exclusive area, and the fact that it is now home to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gives it the ultimate royal touch.

“Even though sources have revealed that Harry and Meghan could be thinking about leaving their current Montecito home and are looking at new properties, the fact that the mansion has been occupied by two of the most famous people in the world and was their first official home after leaving the UK, means that the property is likely to skyrocket in value.

“If Prince Harry and Meghan do decide to keep the home and rent it out, it will become one of the most exclusive and sought-after rental properties in the world, with people eager to experience something of the intimate world of the Sussexes. “Despite no longer being official working members of the Royal Family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are ultimate royal trendsetters, and any space they have occupied will remain popular and iconic forever.”
