‘Friends’ fans found themselves doing a double-take at the Rachel impression, many noting that they actually thought Aniston had joined the platform. Earlier this week, TikTok user Lisa Tranel (@she_plusthree) went viral on the platform after posting her impression of Rachel Green from the popular ‘90s sitcom Friends.
Fans of the show couldn’t help but notice the shocking resemblance between the two, and found themselves looking back and forth between Tranel and Jennifer Aniston, who played the beloved character in all 10 seasons of the NBC sitcom. Aniston’s portrayal of Rachel catapulted her career to new heights, earning her a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award, as well as global recognition and fame.
She went on to star in a number of romantic comedies over the course of her career, becoming one of the biggest names in Hollywood. She’s currently playing the lead role in the Apple TV+ series The Morning Show. Aside from Aniston, the show also made breakout stars out of Courteney Cox (Monica Geller), David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay), and Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing) as well.
Tranel posted a reenactment of Aniston’s lines in one scene from the 1997 episode titled “The One Where Chandler Can’t Remember Which Sister.” In the scene, Rachel is complaining about her new entry-level fashion industry job. “I want to quit, but then I think I should stick it out,” the TikTok user says, mouthing the lines from the scene. “Then, I think why would such a person stay in such a demeaning job just because it’s remotely related to the field they are interested in?”
After it was posted on Wednesday, the TikTok quickly went viral, garnering over 3 million views and approximately 549,800 likes at the time of this posting. Friends fans found themselves doing a double-take at the Rachel impression, many noting that they actually thought Aniston had joined the platform when they first saw the resemblance. Tranel took to her Instagram page to share her initial shock at the video going viral.
“So, the last few days have been pretty crazy,” she said in a video posted to her story. “I had a TikTok video that went viral because apparently because everyone thinks I look like Jennifer Aniston. It all kind of started as a joke and it kind of blew up,” she continued. “For the record, I don’t really think I look like Jennifer Aniston and my family doesn’t either.” Aniston has yet to acknowledged the viral Rachel impression on TikTok, but it’s still fun to see that she has a doppelganger.
